Accessibility Statement
Accessibility Statement for HaloITSM
This accessibility statement applies to both HaloITSM’s website and the whole of the HaloITSM’s web application (web-app). The website and web-app are run by Halo Service Solutions. We are committed to making our websites and apps accessible to everyone and to delivering a universally accessible user experience.
As we strive to not only meet this goal but also surpass the requirements detailed in the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.1), we realise that areas of our webapp and website are not yet fully accessible. Our ongoing efforts to make improvements include rolling out new and updated features.
Current State of Accessibility on HaloITSM
We follow the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) to ensure that any new or updated web designs or new releases of the web-app are technically and functionally usable. Defined on three levels (A, AA and AAA) WCAG specifications allow designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. We have recently achieved our objective of becoming conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA (as of webapp version 2.127.1). Our updated ambition is to fully comply at the highest level (AAA).
Non-accessible content & Recent improvements
We are continuing to improve accessibility on older portions of our website and webapp. We previously highlighted and recently rectified the following issues:
- More elements on the agent app and portal that couldn’t previously be accessed with the keyboard only can now be accessed via keyboard navigation. For example, the Tree menu, tickets list, portal buttons and services on the portal. New keyboard shortcuts have been added to focus the tree menu and navigation bar.
- Date pickers have been improved to show in-line rather than modal.
- Issues using Halo on either a small window or with high zoom have been resolved. These were issues such as certain information being cut-off or menus not being visible. Scaling issues have also been addressed.
- Some areas of the platform had incorrect colour contrast ratios. We have now enabled higher contract modes for accessibility.
What we are doing to improve accessibility
HaloITSM are already implementing inclusive design for digital products, a methodology that enables all users access to this content and honours the full range of human diversity. New software releases and any updates to the HaloITSM website will adhere to the latest WCAG standards. HaloITSM will also be working back through older areas of the website and web-app to ensure that all sections adhere to the latest WCAG standards. We will design and test with real users to gather diverse perspectives.
HaloITSM will continue to complete full system accessibility tests throughout 2024 and schedule feature updates to make the HaloITSM software fully WCAG 2.1 level AAA compliant.
