Glossary of terms
Fair use: Fair use is a legal doctrine that allows for the limited use of copyrighted material without permission from the copyright holder. Fair use is determined on a case-by-case basis, and there are four factors that courts consider when determining whether a use is fair:
- The purpose and character of the use, including whether such use is of a commercial nature or is for non-profit educational purposes;
- The nature of the copyrighted work;
- The amount and substantiality of the portion used in relation to the copyrighted work as a whole; and
- The effect of the use on the potential market for or value of the copyrighted work.
Rate limit: A rate limit is a restriction on the number of requests that can be made to a system in a given period. Rate limits are used to prevent abuse of systems and to ensure that all users have fair access to resources.
Software: Software is a set of instructions that tells a computer what to do. Software can be used to perform a wide range of tasks, such as creating documents, playing games, and browsing the web.
Hosted platform: The hosted platform is a cloud-based platform that provides users with access to Halo Web Applications. This is hosted Primarily in AWS with all services and data for any given tenant being located in their designated region.
Policy
This Fair Use Policy ("Policy") applies to your use of the Halo Web Application Software and the Hosted Platform, this includes HaloPSA, HaloITSM, HaloCRM and other supplied packages. The Software is a cloud-based software application that provides users with access to a variety of features.
Rate Limit
The Software has a rate limit of 500 API requests per 3 minutes. API requests made directly by the application or by integrations that are native to the Halo platform are not included in the rate limit. This means that you are limited to making 500 API requests to the Software in any rolling 3-minute period. If you exceed the rate limit, you will receive an error message. This is "Error Code 429: Too Many Requests"
Fair Use
The Halo Software is designed for normal, reasonable use. We do not expect you to use the Software in a way that is disruptive or harmful to our infrastructure or other users.

- Using the Software in a way that generates a very large number of requests every second
- Using the Software to scrape or collect data from the Hosted Platform
