Asset Types
Asset Types Main Page
There is a button on the asset types main page to XLS import your asset types. Beside the "Choose File" button of the imports page, you will find the download samples link, in which there is a asset types xls template this is Recommended to use when importing asset types or when importing anything else into Halo.
Assets and asset types can also be imported via buttons at the bottom of the Asset management general settings page.

Action | Type | Description |
Change Icon | Button | Change the icon image of the Asset Type. |
Clone | Button | Create a cloned Asset Type with a different name from the current Asset Type. |
Delete | Button | Deletes the asset type. |
Details
Field | Type | Description |
Name | Free Text | This will be the name of the Asset Type as it is seen elsewhere throughout the system. |
Asset Group | Single Select | This will be the Group which Assets of this type will be grouped underneath. This will dictate a few defaults, and can be used to better organise your Assets. |
Default sequence | Integer | This will be the default Sequence value of this Asset Type. This determines the position of the type in lists throughout the system. |
Asset Tag Prefix | Free Text | This, if populated, will add the entered text to the beginning of any Assets serialised as this type. For example, something like "LAP" may be added to the codes of laptop type. |
Allow Users to see Assets of this type | Checkbox | When checked, Users will be able to see Assets of this type via the Self Service Portal, unless they are otherwise restricted to do so. |
Allow all Agents to view this Asset Type | Checkbox | This allows all Agents to see this Asset Type and its group in lists, without granting access control that inherits to the Assets. An Agent must be granted access control directly to the Assets to view them. |
Notes | Free Text | Notes added here can be used to identify or further describe this Asset Type for Agents or Users that are unfamiliar with them. |
Stock Serialization Matching Field | Single Select | The field selected here will be used as a Unique Identifier for Assets of this Type. Any updates coming in for Assets will look to match this field onto existing Assets, and in cases where there is no match found, a new Asset will be generated. |
Default Column Profile | Single Select | The selections here will be available from any Asset Column Profiles that have been configured. The choice made will be the default profile seen when viewing this Asset Type. Options are limited. |
Asset privacy level | Single Select | The selection made here will distinguish whether this Asset Type is used by individuals or groups of people. |
Priority | Single Select | The priority level chosen here will be assigned to any Tickets once they are logged with this Asset associated to them. |
Related Service Catalogue | Multi Select | The services chosen here will be tied to assets of this type by default, meaning that any new asset of this type will have this service related to it. |
Field List
Fields added to this list will be available on assets of this type. Three of these can be marked as Key Fields, which will be displayed in lists of these Assets. Their visibility can also be configured here.
Layout
Field | Type | Description |
Tab Layout | Single Select | Here, a choice can be made between using a default Tab Layout for this Asset Type, or a custom one. The custom one can be configured once selected, certain tabs can be hidden from view. Custom Tabs of entity: Asset will show in this list of tabs, allowing you to decide the order of the tabs and the visibility of tabs. |
System field visibility | Single Select | These fields will be used to determine who can view certain fields against this Asset Type. Their requirements can also be set here. Below is the visibility of the other fields such as technical owner, priority, dependencies, etc... |
Business Owner | Single Select | Here you can set the system field visibility for the Business owner field. |
Technical Owner | Single Select | Here you can set the system field visibility for the Technical owner field. |
Service Level Agreement | Single Select | Here you can set the system field visibility for the Service Level Agreement field. |
Priority | Single Select | Here you can set the system field visibility for the Priority field. |
Status | Single Select | Here you can set the system field visibility for the Status field. |
Related Service Catalogue | Single Select | Here you can set the system field visibility for the Related Service Catalogue. |
Dependencies | Single Select | Here you can set the system field visibility for the Dependencies field. |
Notes | Single Select | Here you can set the system field visibility for the Notes field. |
Licences | Single Select | Here you can set the system field visibility for the Licences field. |
Criticality | Single Select | Here you can set the system field visibility for the Criticality field. |
Documents
Documents uploaded to this area will be attached to Assets of this type.
Contract Settings
Field | Type | Description |
Default Contract Costs | Integer | Costs entered in these fields will be set as defaults for the periodic charge for Assets of this type. These can be overridden per Asset or even upon adding them to Invoices. |
Accounts Details | Free Text | The Item Codes entered here will be used to identify this Asset Type in Sales, Purchases, and Invoice scenarios respectively. |
Resource Booking
Field | Type | Description |
Enable Resource Booking | Checkbox | When checked, additional fields will open up for the configuration of booking this Asset Type. |
Resource Booking Hours | Single Select | The working hours selected here will be used as the available times that Assets of this type can be booked inside. |
Booking Types | Table | Booking Types added to this table will be available when booking Assets of this type. These consist of a booking duration, buffer periods for between bookings, and descriptive fields like a Name and a message. |
Allow selection of an available Asset/resource | Checkbox | When checked, the ability to select a particular Asset or resource will be made available. If not, a random asset or resource will be assigned automatically. |
Site Selection Type | Single Select | When "Select from all Sites" is selected, the option to restrict assets will not be visible. If No is selected, Asset restrictions become available. |
Asset Restrictions | Single Select | The selection made here will determine which Assets can be booked of this Type, the option to Choose from available Assets at the Users Customer, there is also "Choose from all available assets or choose from available assets at the users site. |
Minimum hours in advance to allow booking | Integer | The value entered here will be how many hours in advance that Assets of this type will need to be booked from. |
Maximum days in advance to allow booking | Integer | The value entered here will be the limit of how many days in advance you can book Assets of this type. |
Roles
Asset types have a tab for "Roles", the Table can be added to for their to be roles to choose from. These roles can be selected when configuring asset user relationships. For example if you add a user to the relationships tab of an asset, then right click on that user relationship and go to "Edit relationship", you can add to the drop down called "Choose the roles between User and Asset". NB: This is not a feature our customers tend to use, very niche.
Allowed Statuses
Field | Type | Description |
Allow All Values | Checkbox | When checked, Assets of this type can have any Asset Status at all. If not, then a list will appear for selecting which Statuses are available. |
Allowed Statuses | List | Any Asset Statuses listed here will be available for assigning to Assets of this type. |
