Meet the Graduate
Izzie Pearson, Technical Consultant
In late 2021, Izzie Pearson, a University of Exeter graduate, joined Halo Service Solutions on the graduate programme. A little over one year later, she now plays a key role at Halo, working as a Technical Consultant at the Halo Headquarters in Stowmarket, England.
“Upon first glance, the Halo Graduate Scheme seemed too good to be true, allowing individuals to explore and utilise a wide variety of skills from all areas of the company. However, it not only lived up to this optimistic expectation, but surpassed what I thought was possible as a first job fresh out of University.
Having minimal experience within the SaaS industry, I was keen to find my feet and see where I could fit within the company. There was a steep but gratifying learning curve, it encouraged me to pick up as many skills as possible in multiple departments. Despite the challenging nature of the work, this never felt like a task and the environment inspired me to work to improve every day. Being around likeminded driven graduates pushes you above and beyond what you may have expected, even from yourself. It is this attitude that creates the perfect conditions not only for personal growth, but a collective development that is equally as rewarding.
A distinct aspect of the company is that you need comprehensive knowledge across the board, even to specialise in one area – the more you know about the products and departments collectively, the more you can bring to the table. The rotations around the company allowed me to spend time in multiple roles and to evaluate where my skills best fit – this was an invaluable opportunity as a recent graduate who was new to the Software industry. My first rotation was in the Sales department, where I quickly realised how important it was to have both technical and practical knowledge of the product, and I realised that it was this knowledge that provided a wealth of confidence in a role that I never imagined would come naturally to me. After shadowing an established consultant for a few months, I quickly picked up the necessary skills to become an ITSM consultant and this is where I have been since completing the graduate programme. Being a consultant is never boring, as each implementation is unique and has different demands that need to be met. Speaking to clients and understanding how their business is improved and streamlined by Halo is incredibly rewarding. The collaboration between client and consultant means you really do learn something new every single day.
The social aspect of Halo is also a massive part of the day-to-day functioning of the company. Halo has a unique social environment, one that challenges and promotes growth, while acknowledging and appreciating the work of every single individual across all departments. It is obvious from day one that we all support one another both inside and outside of work, something we like to call ‘the Halo way’. Halo has shaped me and really has brought out the best in me – you won’t find a company like it.”
